Adventures of Teddy

My Humans Are Getting Married!

I am so excited that my humans are getting married! I've known Nick for almost three years now. I love him so much. He's like the daddy I've never had. I've also never seen Mama as happy as she is whenever they are together — almost as happy as when she's with me! I wish I had been there when they got engaged, but I was here in St. Louis while they were celebrating Mama's birthday in San...

Teddy Goes to the Groomer

Normally, Mama trims my hair because she's afraid of other people handling me. One day, she decided to take me to the pet groomer because she had been referred by a neighbor to a place near her salon. She dropped me off one Saturday morning as she went on her hair appointment. Mama left only after she saw the lady was handling her client (a poodle) very well.   I had to wait for the dog before...

Hershel, The Three-Legged Foster Dog

Mama does short-term fostering from time to time. Typically, she helps out other foster parents who need help while they are out of town or when a dog just needs some time away from the shelter. She doesn't do it often because she's afraid of getting too attached one day. Mama tried to fostering me at first, but she fell victim to what the rescue community likes to call a "foster failure."...

Teddy – Lost & Found

Even though Teddy and I have spent so much time together and we have such a strong bond, he still has an innate curiosity to run. I keep a tight leash on him always, and very rarely will I entrust him to others' watch. I've had a few scares here and there, but the worst was the first time he ever got loose.  Lost Dog It happened two weeks after I had brought him home. He was still timid but had...

Teddy’s Adoption – Love at First Sight

I'm continually reminiscing about when I first met Teddy. I'm so proud of how far he's come along since I adopted him. It was love at first sight. This is Teddy's adoption story. In 2014, I took a long break from working. When my team's work got outsourced, I decided not to pursue other opportunities within my company. I was not interested in working again right away because I wanted...

Teddy’s Rescue

Gateway Pet Guardians (GPG), a local animal shelter, rescued Teddy in East St. Louis in January 2014. He showed up on their feeding route one day and continued to make appearances during later feedings. The volunteers would sometimes see Teddy hanging out with friends on the porch of an abandoned house. This was not an uncommon sight for East Saint Louis. GPG focuses its efforts in that area...

First Snow Day With Teddy

It's been snowing quite a bit in St. Louis and I love it! My favorite kind of snowfall is when the snow is thick and untouched—layers of it cloaking the lawns and streets. No cars on the road as everyone stays warm inside. Teddy and I experienced our first big snow together a couple of weeks ago. I love sharing "first moments" with him. When people have babies, they want to be there for the...

Teddy was rescued in January of 2014. He showed up one day on Gateway Pet Guardians’ feeding route and the rescue team made it a mission to get him off the streets.
